Douglas Schneider's profile

30 Years of Food Packaging Illustrations

For over 30 years, Douglas Schneider has specialized in painting realistic illustrations for packaging.  This project presentation focuses on illustrations that were made for food packaging.
From early 2018 to the present, Williams-Sonoma chose Douglas Schneider to paint over forty packaging illustrations for their Instant Pot Starter Kits. The illustrations are watercolor and colored pencil paintings that were meant to be printed small.  They were painted smaller than usual so he could concentrate on good value contrast, and wouldn't get caught up with too much detail that would be lost anyway.
In 1912, Georges Monin founded his company in Bourges, France.  In 1930 Monin started to export to Europe and the Caribbean, and by 1993 they developed an international presence.

The Monin Americas Headquarters and Flavor Innovation Center are based out of Clearwater, Florida, and they oversee all of their sales and operations throughout North America, South America and the Caribbean.

In 2023, Monin asked Douglas Schneider to paint a new illustration for their new flavor, Hot Honey.

From 2006 to 2018, Castella Imports of Edgewood, NY chose Douglas Schneider to paint over 120 illustrations for their redesigned Mediterranean Food packaging.  New illustrations were done for their herbs and spices, oils and vinegars, as well as their many imported olives, peppers and Mediterranean foods.
